Here we go again!
Eight games. One thousand twenty four pixels from each. One guesser – you. Hardly seems fair.
‘Kay! I guess it’s time to reveal the answers.
Top-left: System Shock. I thought this would be pretty easy to get, since that’s the “lean” interface that allowed you to look around corners – an innovation at the time.
Top-right: Doom. I thought the industrial wall coupled with the ceiling full of red lights would be a dead giveaway.
Second-Left: Civilization. A mountain tile next to unexplored land.
Second-Right: X-COM. A female X-COM operative is about to do the most dangerous thing you can do in the X-COM universe…open a door.
Third-Left: Commander Keen 1. The game that gave Id Software the pizza money necessary to create Wolfenstein 3D.
Third-Right: Star Trek 25th Anniversary. That’s Spock with his weird hooded scanner console thingy.
Bottom-Left: Star Control 2. That’s part of your ship, and parts of the Human and Spathi ships you are carrying.
Bottom-Right: Syndicate Wars. That’s part of the minimap, which I felt was so distinctive-looking that someone might be able to guess it just from that.
Thank you for playing!
I was just about to post the answers I have, I guess I am late.
On the bright side, I was right! I had Civ, Commander Keen (I knew it was one of the early ones, but I didn’t have it narowed down.) Star Trek 25th Anniversary, and Star Control II.
I nailed Star Trek 25th Anniversary and Commander Keen, but the rest eluded me, sadly.
Even after you’ve revealed it, I still can’t really can’t see the Doom in that Doom pic. That was a toughy.
#3 (reading order): Civilization! Probably DOS Civilization. There were many versions of the game, Amiga, Macintosh, DOS, Windows, SNES.
