For every authoritarian system you find in video games, there will also be another group devoted to its overthrow. Sometimes these are oh-so-creatively called the “Resistance” or the “Rebellion” or whatnot. But sometimes these groups have actual names that sometimes actually mean something.
Here are eight groups dedicated to sticking it to the man. Can you name the games they came from? And better yet, can you name the “man” they are trying to stick it to?
1. Northwest Secessionist Forces
2. AVALANCHE
3. Red Faction
4. Carrion Crow
5. Sons of Korhal
6. John Brown’s Army
7. The Woodsie Folk
8. The Laytonites
Good luck! If you win, I promise that simply imprison you when I catch you instead of having you executed.
Wow, this is a tough one! I don’t know a single one of these.
BUT IMMA GUESS!
1.) Fallout, 5) Warhammer, … Yeah, that’s the best I’ve got.
Wrong and wrong. Sorry!
Here is what I have:
1. Deus Ex, UNATCO
2. Final Fantasy VII, Shinra
3. Red Faction, Ultor Corporation
4. ???
5. Starcraft II, Terrans
6. Splinter Cell Conviction, the Government, Third Echelon
7. Thief, The Hammerites
8. Starflight, Interstel, the Old Empire
If I win, can I have a cell with a man-sized ventilation shaft? I… don’t want to be too hot…
1. Correct!
2. Correct!
3. Correct!
5. Close, but incorrect.
6. VERY close, but wrong game.
7. Correct!
8. Correct! And good job!
As for the cell…you know I would, but the Evil Overlord List says not to.
5. StarCraft, Terran Dominion
Ok, I got that wrong.
5. StarCraft, Terran Confederacy
Pekka: Correct!
Here’s the final list (Lame Brain is going to kick himself):
1. Deus Ex, the US Government
2. Final Fantasy VII, Shinra Corporation
3. Red Faction, Ultor Corporation
4. Front Mission, the USN
5. Starcraft, the Confederacy
6. Splinter Cell: Double Agent, the US Government
7. Thief: The Dark Project, the CityFolk
8. Starflight, the Old Empire
Hope you guys had fun!
Right, I meant double agent.
Conviction is the one with the cool sticky-cover.
