Okay…why exactly am I killing myself working on Planitia again?
(You can download a much better version of that movie here.)
Yeah. You know what? I give up. You guys can just play Multiwinia when it comes out. It’ll probably be released around the same time Planitia would have been and will be loads better.
Okay, I’m kidding. (Mostly.) But I am knee-deep into the second 90% on this project. I would pay good money to never have to look at terrain.cpp again. I am starting to understand why game developers don’t make games with deformable terrain any more.
Wow, the airstrike is as awesome as I remember it!
But I’m still looking forward to Planitia.
Okay i’m not going to comment on Multiwinia, as i’m sure i’m not going to play it, but I *WILL* be playing Plantia, and I just downloaded your last update, and the frame rate has improved from when i first tested it. It still stutters a bit when moving around a bunch of little people moving about, but only very little, and of course it stutters a bit when deforming (volcano, etc)… but it doesn’t seem like it would be unplayable, still if you can make it faster then great, but still great work.

I never understood what was supposed to be so cool about darwinia, but maybe it’s just me..
Well, the look of it is wonderful, in my opinion. Dirt-simple stuff to draw (except for the glow effects) but due to a strong art design the game looks fantastic.
And it’s got interesting play mechanics…it’s got the whole tug-of-war thing going on for “souls” (which you use to make your Darwinians) but avoids Sacrifice’s problem by allowing you, the computer operator, to run up to four “programs” to do various specialized tasks (one of which is combat).
It just really appealed to me…though I never got around to actually buying it…
