Video Blog 3 successful!
In this blog I talk about how game development and game publishing work, tell two stories about game development, and even have a guest star at the end!
Edit: Google Video version is here. Gamespot’s player doesn’t seem to work well for non-Usanians. I’ll be uploading the Google Video version more promptly in the future.
Okay, let’s test something here…
Woohoo!
Well…
Except that the quality on the Google Video version is MUCH worse than the Gamespot one. Crud!
Edit: Direct download link for this video blog is here.
This one is good. I notice that they keep getting better, although the video quality was not as good as your other two. With only 3 data points to go with, the performance of the blog is either directly proportional with time or inversely proportional to video quality ๐
Based on your state of the industry in this blog, it seems like now, more than ever, it is time to go indie. I have kept an eye on the Spiderweb Software guys (www.spiderwebsoftware.com). They are not making millions, but they make it sound like it is just 4 guys who left their day job to make games for a living. Sounds like a good deal to me.
I look forward to next Saturdayโs blog.
One guy (Jeff Vogel), his wife and two employees, actually. Jeff is one of my favorite people. Hmmm…I should do a video blog on him!
As for the video quality…my wife absconded with my previous webcam when she discovered she could use it to video chat with her guildmates, so I had to get another one. And yeah, it doesn’t look like the video quality is as good. Oh, well.
great blog! I remember hearing about Naughty Dog and Insomniac’s technology sharing and also getting warm fuzzy feelings. Too bad that kind of sharing is so rare in this industry.
Another good one, Viridian. Thanks for the time it takes you to put it all together so we can ‘visit’ with you!
Thanks, made me miss my train this morning =)
For some reason the audio in the video on your page keeps stuttering, but the one in google video is ok.
Yeah, non-Usanians tend to have trouble with the Gamespot feed, so I’ll be getting the Google Video version uploaded more promptly in the future. Need to find out if I can embed the Google Video version into my page; it would solve a lot of problems.
Very interesting video blog!
Thanks a lot for the mention. ๐
[…] a previous video blog of mine I mentioned how Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games teamed up to the benefit of both, and this […]
Cool blog! At first I thought you might be some sort of insane internet/stalker/drooling psychopath but as i listened to your blog, you are very cool.
It is nice to see older gamers that go way back to C64 days, and you’ve got lots of interesting insights/thoughts on the gaming industry that I would never have seen anywhere else. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I played all those games from Dragon Warrior to ultima, to spyro and the crash bandicoot etc. Thanks for the info on what goes on for the developers.
It’s nice to see you have an unharmed kid! ๐
